Nablus Hand-Embroidered Kuffiyah - Tatreez White
This is without a doubt a statement piece that will turn heads.
It begins at the Nablus Textile Company, a family-run factory founded in 1950 and one of only two remaining kuffiyah factories in Palestine. There, the traditional black-and-white kuffiyah is woven on the factory’s looms and finished with knotted tassels.
But its journey does not end at the factory. Once the kuffiyah leaves the loom, it is taken to a group of Palestinian women, who embroider the tatreez entirely by hand. Each geometric form is slowly built, cross-stitch by cross-stitch, using rich shades of red, burgundy, and orange. Tatreez has long been a way for Palestinian women to preserve memory, identity, and connection to the land through thread.
Every kuffiyah requires time, patience, and the work of multiple Palestinian artisans. Natural differences in the embroidery make each one slightly unique, carrying the individual touch of the woman who stitched it.
Made from beginning to end in Nablus, Palestine.
Note: Small variations in the tatreez, stitching, weave, and thread are natural characteristics of the handmade process.
